Back where it all started

Hi everyone.

We’re finally back in Coventry, the city where this band was ‘born’, this coming Saturday… 23rd April… with our first gig at The Arches Music Venue in nearly 11 years! The Arches itself has undergone a big refurbishment since it was taken over by new management just prior to the pandemic. They’re ‘keeping music live’ and as always, we’re delighted to support people who do that.

As some of you will know, DSOTW was formed in 1996 to celebrate the 50th birthday of the legendary John ‘Crazy Diamond’ Wall. Along with his good friends Barry Page and Stuart ‘Cossy’ Cosgrove, they created a band dedicated to performing the music of Pink Floyd… at a time when the concept of ‘tribute bands’ was yet to catch on. 26 years later and the band is stronger than ever, with some older ‘stalwarts’ now blended with new musicians, still carrying on John’s enduring legacy… something we’re all immensely proud of.

We’ve enjoyed some brilliant shows/gigs since we ‘came back to life’ last October – following an unwanted but necessary 18 month hibernation – and the set now includes some new Floyd tracks we’ve not played in Coventry before. As such we can’t wait to see some faces on Saturday… old and new!

Advance tickets can be purchased here… but you can also just turn up on the night and ‘pay on the door’ in the old fashioned way!

The address is The Arches Music Venue, 22/23 Arches Industrial Estate, Coventry CV1 3JQ. We’re on stage at around 8.30pm.

Coming Back To Life

Hi folks.

It’s been a long time. Too damn long in fact. Thankfully we can finally announce that we will be back on a stage again this autumn and all through next year…. with of course the caveat that the virus rule makers may change things. With the live music business having been hit particularly hard this past 18 months, let’s hope they won’t and we can all get back to enjoying the things we love the most.

We’ve been hard at work in the rehearsal studio this last couple of months getting back up to the level we were at before we were so rudely interrupted and on our return we promise to unveil something we’ve never previously done in our long 25 year history… it’ll be well worth the wait! 😉

Our first show back will be at one of our most long-standing and favourite venues, The Benn Hall in Rugby on Saturday 9th October. Tickets are on sale online now <click here> or alternatively just pay on the door on the night. After that we make our third trip up to the Old Clee Club in Grimsby on Saturday 23rd October (you can look the venue up on Facebook for details). Finally, we close out the year with a long overdue return to the wonderful Mill Arts Centre in Banbury. Their box office also have tickets on sale online <click here>.

Next year will be busy again. Take a look at the website’s ‘LIVE’ page where you can see the dates and details for shows in Nuneaton, Derby, Tamworth, Leicester, Coventry (awaiting a date confirmation), Worcester, Ibstock and Maidenhead… with more to be added.

We simply can’t wait to see you again.

Shine on – and stay safe!

Set The Controls For The Heart of Leicester

Hey everyone.

After what’s seemed a very long summer break, we’re now all refreshed and setting the controls for the heart of Leicester this Saturday (10th August) when we make our annual appearance at The Musician.

A cracking music venue where we get to play a ‘gig’ more than a ‘perform a show’. We love these type of gigs… when it’s all about the music and the atmosphere.

Tickets are on sale on line at:

Or you can pay on the door on the night (subject to availability).

Doors open at 8 and we’ll be taking to the stage around 8.45pm.

After this we have a blank September but a busy October and November with long distance trips to Grimsby, Ripley in Yorkshire, Maidenhead and finally, a bit closer to home with the Benn Hall in Rugby. All our shows are listed on the LIVE page on this website.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

In The Flesh in Worcestershire

Hey everyone.

With well over 20 years of live performances behind us, the audience reaction we’ve been hearing at recent shows is that the band are performing better than ever. That’s always great to hear and it’s something we can attribute to a combination of two things. Firstly, Adrian is now no longer the ‘new boy’ and with several gigs under his belt his performances are ‘wow-ing’ everyone. He has proved to be a brilliant addition to the band and we’re absolutely delighted to have him on board following last year’s departure of our long-standing friend Andy Nixon, who’s wonderful musicianship brought so much to DSOTW over the years. Secondly, working regularly with our ever-willing and always professional crew, namely Norm and Russ of Abstract Audio, has become a massive part of what we do. These guys go to extraordinary lengths to provide us with the best sound and lights we’ve ever had. All the bricks in our wall are nicely in place right now!

Some show news…

Next Saturday sees us heading down to Worcester for the first of two trips to that fair county this month. These will be our last two live shows for a couple of months due to holidays and venue availability etc so here’s the details….

Saturday 11th May sees us back at the very wonderful Swan Theatre, right next to the racecourse. We’ve been playing this venue since 2004 but this year will be the first time we show off Adrian on lead guitar. This was of course the setting for Andy’s last gig with us this time last year so we’re looking forward to everyone seeing his replacement in full Floyd action! Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start and tickets can be bought by calling the theatre’s box office on 01905 611427 or via their website at

Then at the end of the month we’re playing The Mello Festival that takes place over the bank holiday weekend at the Severn End Country Estate, Hanley Castle. We’re finishing the night on the Melomania Stage on Saturday 2th May and are last on at 11pm. Details on tickets, the campsite and all you need to know about the other acts appearing can be found here:

If we don’t see you in Worcestershire this month we hope to see you in August in Leicester or at various other shows in the autumn.

Another Ibstock Brick In The Wall

Hey everyone.

We’re heading for where the bricks come from this weekend when we play a show in Ibstock at the quaintly deco-era former cinema called The Palace. We’ve not been to this venue for over a decade now and it’s seen a few changes since then… as have we!

We’re going to squeeze our full show into the venue and look forward to yet another evening of classic Floyd, and making a few new acquaintances along the way. Though as tempting as it is, rest assured, we will not be using the local product to construct a wall across the stage. Not this time. 😉

This will of course be our first show since the dreadful news of our founder John Wall’s passing on 26th February. He was our own ‘Crazy Diamond’ and will be in our hearts as we perform on Saturday evening. Without him, DSOTW would never have been born and none of us would be doing any of this. Never will ‘Wish You Were Here’ have been more poignant.
