Les-tah here we come!
Hi everyone
We can’t wait for this Saturday (6th September) and a welcome return to a great little venue in Leicester (or ‘Les-tah’ as us locals pronounce it!) called The Musician. Andy described it having a “proper music vibe” when we first played there in 2012 and he’s spot on – it most definitely does. The atmosphere is always amazing and as a band, we love these kind of small intimate gigs just as much as doing a full theatre show. The venue has a 220 capacity so if you want to get a ticket in advance (and a bit cheaper too) see the details below. You’ll also be able to pay on the door on the night so we look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. We guarantee a great night of in-yer-face live Floyd music.
What a contrast the small stage at the Musician will be when compared to our last live appearance – at the Sunshine Festival on 22nd August. But thankfully, we’ll be on it for a lot longer than we were there! It turned out to be a bit of a mixed bag for us with the thrill at being able to perform on such a big festival stage countered by the fact that for various reasons, none of them our fault(!) we ended up on stage for only 20 minutes! A great shame because we were cooking that night, and revelling in proving ourselves perfectly suited to a big stage like that. Importantly, the audience were loving it too and it was such a shame for everyone there that we were forced to cut it short because of a midnight curfew we weren’t even told about. That, coupled with the absence of a proper stage manager and other bands overrunning as a result, insufficient times for changeovers and some technical issues with their monitors all contributed to DSOTW and our fans being short-changed.
As always when faced with this kind of situation you have to take the positives from it though. Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Another Brick In The Wall and especially Comfortably Numb sounded just awesome – and that we looked perfectly at home up there. And oh yeah, also that we had a great fun-filled weekend together based at our self-constructed ‘Camp Dark Side’, just behind the main stage! A few hangovers were evident in our party over the course of the weekend, but to save sullying certain reputations, those people shall remain nameless. Haha.
We look forward to seeing you at The Musician this Saturday, or if you were one of the many who saw us at the festival and would like to hear more, we’ll see you at The Swan Theatre in Worcester on 4th October. More details on that one soon.
