Hi everyone.

What a fantastic end to the year we had at Stoney Stanton Social Club on 30th November. It was our best turn out there since pre-recession days and the atmosphere in the room was amazing. Our sincere thanks to everyone who came along.

Those that were present will be aware we did the show without any female backing singers for the first time in god knows how long. Sofia had a long standing professional engagement elsewhere and was unavailable whilst Janie informed us she needed to leave the band the week before. Naturally we thank her for her contribution over the last 12 months and wish her well in the future. So, faced with no Sofia in particular, and the songs on which she shines, we felt the best option was to change the set around and, well, ‘rock things up a bit’. Which we did – and it was great! We brought back Pigs (Three Different Ones), Fat Old Sun, Hey You, Have A Cigar and Young Lust! We haven’t played these tracks for some time so it was a challenge throwing them all in with just the one rehearsal but wow, this gig really did rock!!!

As mentioned above, we now have a vacancy in the band and we are keen to find someone who can work alongside Sofia as one of our female backing vocalists, which we feel is a key element in enabling us to perform the Floyd arrangements we love so much from the Pulse and Delicate Sound of Thunder concerts. If you know of anyone who has both the voice and the inclination then give us a shout via band@pinkfloydtribute.co.uk. We have some exciting things in the pipeline for next year and want to be back up to a nine-piece as soon as possible so we’ll be holding auditions in January. A formal advert will appear via our social network pages in the coming days so look out for it!

Talking of next year, the first show will be at a regular favourite of ours, the Benn Hall in Rugby. After a change of ownership we thought we might be losing this one from our diary but we’re delighted to have been able to strike a deal with the new management that enables us to return again in 2014. Saturday 1st February is the show date and what bette place to kick off the year from, a venue where Pink Floyd themselves performed back in the sixties!

And, we’re also proud to announce that following our appearance at the Upton Festival in August we’ve not only become the ONLY band to be asked back for 2014 but we’ve also been given a slot on the Main Stage!!! Our set in August blew people away and it’s awesome that we made such an impression not just on the 3000 crowd but on the event organisers too. We can’t wait to be back! The festival is now being re-branded ‘Sunshine Festival’ and will take place on the August bank holiday weekend.

In the meantime, as we say on the homepage and as another year draws to a close, we’d like to thank you all for continuing to support us in the numbers you do. It’s quite humbling to be honest and we know full well we couldn’t indulge ourselves in this fantastic pastime without all the people who come to the shows. It’s such a buzz to play the music we love to so many likeminded Floydies and long may it continue. A very sincere and heartfelt thank you goes out from all of us. Have a great xmas and see you all in 2014!
