Seeing out 2014 in true DSOTW style
Hi everyone. As we near the end of yet another great year of live shows we visit two regular venues in December, ensuring we conclude our 2014 itinerary in true DSOTW style.First up is a trip to Stoney Stanton Social Club on Saturday 6th December. We’ve been performing live shows at this club since 2003 and it’s always a pleasure to work with the club’s live music promoter Jim Bunting, who must be the hardest working promoter we’ve ever come across in the many venues we’ve played at up and down the country. Jim is the chap on the door as you come in and the work he puts in prior to every gig at his club is astounding. A top gent!
As for the show itself, we know what to expect at Stoney Stanton. Always a vibrant atmosphere full of Floyd fans looking for a great night out. The buzz we get back from the audience is amazing and inspires the band each and every time. Really looking forward to it.
On Saturday 20th December we conclude the year’s diary with a pre-xmas show at The Roadhouse in Birmingham. This is another venue with a very committed and hard working owner/promoter in Zoe Godber, who can never do enough for the bands who come to her place. The in-house PA is always a bit of a challenge for a band like ourselves with the monitors being built into the stage more suited to a four piece! However, this will be our fourth gig there now so we’re kinda used to it and having our regular sound man Martin Cure with us always helps. Like Stoney Stanton it’s always a great venue for atmosphere and should be a perfect place to do our last 2014 show.

Always a thrill to play to new people and see what they make of us. Pleased to report we went down a storm to a packed house in the Jubilee Hall and we can’t wait to go back next year. The after gig party in drummer Ted’s hotel room afterwards was good fun too, especially as our lead guitarist Mr Nixon demonstrated his passion for Damson Vodka – much to everyone else’s amusement!Shine on
