Our biggest stage yet!

Hi everyone.

This Friday evening sees Dark Side Of The Wall perform on the biggest stage yet of it’s long 18 year history.

At 11.15pm the band will step out onto the very impressive Main Stage to close the opening night of the Sunshine Music Festival – formerly known as Upton Festival – with an hour long set of Floyd classics. We performed a brilliantly received set on Stage 2 at Upton last year, playing in a massive marquee to approximately 3000 people, so taking the step up to the Main Stage in the outdoor arena is a momentous leap – and one we’re all extremely excited about. Amongst the bands joining us on the bill for Friday might will be headliners The Farm (famous for their massive 1991 hit ‘All Together Now’) and the amazing soul legends Jimmy James and The Vagabonds. It’s amazing for us to be rubbing shoulders with such renowned professional acts and getting thoroughly immersed in the festival scene – something very different to our usual circuit.

After our show we’ll be heading back to our ‘Camp Dark Side’ for a late night beverage or two and will then take in the rest of the festival over the weekend. The band members will be doing a mix of camping, caravanning and B&Bing (dependent upon our particular preferences and sensibilities!) and looking forward to seeing some of the other big names for the music biz. These include Big Country, The Blow Monkeys, The Sweet, Boney M, Kenny Thomas, The Beat, Showaddywaddy, The Drifters, Desmond Decker, Secret Affair, Marty Wilde etc. Oh, and one more… The Cheeky Girls (might well make the trip home at that point!).

Watch this space for a full report in how we got on at the festival and for details of all the shows coming up this autumn, starting with The Musician in Leicester, which is already selling brilliantly and looking like we’ll be playing to a packed house in an amazing atmosphere n Saturday 6th September!

Shine on!
