Great Gig On The Lake 4

Hi everyone.

Details for our annual outdoor spectacular at Stanton Lakes on SATURDAY 17th AUGUST have all been finalised and tickets are now on sale, including a new option to purchase them online. Even though there are now EIGHT acts performing this year, with the event running from 2pm until 11pm we’ve pinned the advance ticket price at the same as last year at just £15. And it’s just a fiver for under 16s!

As with last year the entire ‘Great Gig On The Lakes’ event is dedicated to the memory of Jane Smith, the much loved landlady of the Sharnford Arms who tragically lost her battle against cancer last April. Along with her husband Steve (our fireworks and effects guru!) Jane was a long time friend of DSOTW and has provided us with much support over the years. It is our honour to attach Jane’s name to the event, and we thank Steve for his support on this. As Jane’s favourite charity was the local Air Ambulance we have invited their people along on the day so we also thank them for their involvement, and hopefully we can raise a sizeable sum for such a vital service.

You can see all the details for the event via the link below so please check it out.

The live music will start in the restaurant bar area (or out on the decking if we’re blessed with sunshine!) with duos and solo performers before the main stage kicks in at around 4pm where FIVE bands, including DSOTW of course, will be performing sets of well-known songs that will hopefully appeal to everyone! Here’s the itinerary…..

Restaurant from 2pm:

2.00pm: JINX – feature Jess and Rhia’s wonderful female vocal harmonies.

2.30pm: BENJI WILLIAMS – acoustic guitar and vocals who includes a great track from Jungle Book!

3.00pm: RICHIE PHILLIPS – good time guitar and vocals. Guaranteed to get everyone singing along!

Main Stage from 4pm:

4.00pm: MOLLY C TRIO – 16 year old Molly’s beautiful voice singing a mix of old and new!

4.45pm: THE JOHNSON BROTHERS – 4 piece outfit with wonderful harmonies, featuring DSOTW’s Jon Murdock.

5.30pm: BIG WEDNESDAY – Top covers band from Coventry led by DSOTW’s Janie Jones on vocals with ex-King guitarist Jim Lantsberry (remember Love & Pride from 1984?)

7.00pm: THE STRAY BULLETS – Well know local covers band featuring a tea-chest bass! Must see!

8.30pm: DSOTW – 2 sets from us!

10.50pm: FIREWORK FINALE

As well as the usual Camp Dark Side up on the top field (enquire with the venue for details on that) there’s also plenty of free parking. There will also be an extra bar facility (there was a bottleneck last year so no such problem this time around), hot and cold food outlets (no need to go hungry at al!) extra outdoor toilets and a brand new attraction for this year’s event… Aqua Zorbs (Google it if you don’t know – it sounds great fun!).

Meantime, let’s not forget our much anticipated return to the brilliant Leicester city centre venue, The Musician, on Friday 28th June. We had an awesome night here last November and can’t wait to get back there at the end of the month. Details for this show are also on our new website’s home page.

If you have any queries about any details concerning either show feel free to email us at band@pinkfloydtribute.co.uk

Best wishes
DSOTW
