Stoney Stanton and beyond…

Hi everyone.

We’re now fast approaching our last show of 2013 when we make an always welcome return to Stoney Stanton Social Club on Saturday 30th November. It’s always a brilliant atmosphere at this venue so make sure you come down for the last gig for a couple of months!

Details are as follows:

STONEY STANTON SOCIAL CLUB
Hinckley Road, Stoney Stanton, Leics LE9 4LJ

Admission on the night is £10 and tickets can be reserved by calling the promoter Jim Bunting on 01455 272492 or via email at: gigslist@hotmail.co.uk

Doors open at 7.30pm and we’re on at 8.30 – see you there!

So…. can’t quite believe we’re almost at the end of our 2013 shows already. That said, gigs have been tough to come by this year with a couple of venue cancellations along the way through no fault of our own contributing to just 10 shows – our lowest ever in a calendar year! However, 2014 is already looking great with a stack of shows already booked and a couple of very exciting things we’ve been invited to do but can’t make public just yet – rest assured, when we can you’ll be the first to know so watch this space!

2013 has also been a year that has seen a number of band members playing various styles of music with different bands. Andy and Pete’s long awaited solo project, Freedom 2 Glide finally released their RAIN album this week. We promise you it’s been worth worth the wait as it’s a brilliant piece of work in our humble opinion (no doubt it will be on sale at Stoney Stanton!). Elsewhere, Steve continues to perform open mic nights with his songbird daughter Molly as she gains ever more live experience (even being joined by Taz on sax at one in Birstall this week!). Also, Jon Murdock has just recorded a number of original songs with his excellent ‘Moonlighters’ band whilst Janie Jones has recently recruited Ted to play drums with Big Wednesday, her Coventry based pop/rock covers band. Ted has also found himself filling in on a number of shows with various bands but most notably The Beat as they perform their excellent ska shows around the UK. You can find Taz busking with his sax in numerous city centres and also he continues to perform at various private functions with his rock n roll band. Sofia is always singing somewhere as a soloist and only Big Mick seems to have DSOTW as his sole project these days. Mind you, he’s always out of the country mending machines, taking in the USA and then Germany before returning just in time to do our pre-show rehearsal for Stoney Stanton!

So, whilst DSOTW shows have been a little thin on the ground this year we’ve certainly been keeping ourselves busy. Whatever we do, one thing always unites us and that’s the desire to play Pink Floyd music live to anyone who wants to come and listen. We thank you all for your support this year and we suspect 2014 will be a big year for us so we look forward to seeing you all again then too!

Meantime, see you in Stoney Stanton!

Shine On.
